Tsinghua Attended the Centennial Ceremony of RIKEN

Apr. 26, the centennial ceremony of RIKEN was held in the Tokyo International Conference Center. RIKEN is Japan’s most important comprehensive research center, covering fields including physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, life science, material science and information science, with importance always attached to the development of cutting-edge technology and interdiscipline. RIKEN has a good cooperative relationship with Tsinghua University, having established strategic research cooperation and communication mechanisms with both the Department of Physics and the School of Medicine. The two parties also organize academic meetings regularly, carry out joint research projects, submitting joint papers as well as cooperating in the cultivation and training of young scientists.
 
Vice Director Xie Weihe of Tsinghua University Council attended the activity on behalf of the university. Also present were over 600 attendees both from Japan and around the globe. During the ceremony, Vice Director Xie Weihe met with RIKEN’s President Prof. Hiroshi Matsumoto, Nobel Prize winner Prof. Ryoji Noyori and RIKEN’s Vice President Prof. Motoko Kotani. In the coming years, RIKEN has the aim of further enhancing Japan’s scientific and technological level, reinforcing its cooperation with industry, and becoming a reliable and irreplaceable research institute for societal development.
