May 25, a group led by Overseas R&D Management Office Director Ma Jun paid a visit to Thyssen Krupp and met with its CEO in China, Dr. Gao Yan. Vice Director Lu Xiaojun of the Overseas R&D Management Office introduced Tsinghua’s cooperation with top universities and transnational enterprises, and gave an analysis of the mode and results of the cooperation with Siemens as an example. CEO Gao Yan introduced the core businesses of Thyssen Krupp company, which includes steel, automobile technology, machine manufacturing, engineering design, elevators and trade. Thyssen Krupp is a leading enterprise in Germany’s high-end manufacturing, ranking around 180 in the Fortune 500 list of companies. Since the 1990s, Thyssen Krupp has worked to foster an ever closer cooperative relationship with China, mainly in areas such as factory technology, ship systems, mechanical engineering and maglev trains. The two parties both stated that they hoped to reinforce their relationship, find more common interests, and enhancing cooperation through talent exchange.
