Jan. 16, the 11th Tsinghua-Toyota Academic Committee Meeting was held in the Toyota Center of the Science-Tech Mansion. The meeting was chaired by committee director Academician Qian Yi. The Toyota Center director, Academician Hao Jiming, gave a detailed report on the Center’s work in 2016, and seven project leaders gave brief summaries on the progress of their projects. Present at the meeting were Japanese committee members Noboru Kikuchi, vice-director of the Toyota Central Research Institute, and Itaru Yasui, President of the Institute for Sustainable Societies, as well as Chinese committee members, Academician Qian Yi, Prof. Hu Hongying from the School of Environment, and Prof. Li Keqiang from the Department of Automotive Engineering. The committee members listened carefully to all the project reports, after which they asked questions and gave their considered comments on the progress of each project. The committee commended the Center’s outstanding research on a range of hot issues concerning society’s most urgent needs, offering suggestions and expressing their hopes for the Center’s future work.
