On March 20, the signing ceremony of “Tsinghua-MIT Program on Energy and Climate Change Modelling Program” was held. This joint project, which is sponsored by Rio Tinto, has been established under the framework of the Low Carbon Energy Alliance. He Jiankun, Director of the Institute of Low Carbon Economy of Tsinghua University, and Ian Bauert, President of Rio Tinto China, attended the signing ceremony and delivered speeches.
Both He Jiankun and Mr. Ian Bauert made positive remarks on the cooperation between Tsinghua University and MIT in research of energy and climate change modelling, saying that both sides should work together to respond to global challenges in energy and climate change.
After the signing ceremony, a symposium was held. Bu Beifeng, Manager of Economic Research of Rio Tinto China, and Zhang Xiliang, Dean of the Institute of Energy Environment Economy, gave keynote speeches on current research developments in the areas of energy and climate change.
