On Nov. 15th, Kare Bremer, President of Stockholm University, and Pia Furstenbach, Director of the Research Liaison Office, visited the Office of Scientific R&D, Tsinghua University. Jiang Peixue, Executive Deputy Director of the Office of Scientific R&D, and Ma Jun, Director of the Overseas R&D Management Office, met with the guest, exchanging ideas on the further promotion of collaborations of two universities.
At the meeting, Jiang Peixue briefed the guests on the recent development of R&D at Tsinghua University, wishing to strengthen R&D collaboration with Stockholm University in fields with shared interests. Kare Bremer wished that on the basis of cooperation in fields of environmental science, life science and chemistry which were research interests of both universities, Tsinghua University and Stockholm University could establish a long-term relationship. They also discussed and shared their views on how to jointly apply for the projects supported by Euro-Research Council and EU Framework.
Founded in 1878, Stockholm University is the biggest university in Sweden, and the region’s center for higher education and research in science, humanities, the social science and law. Among the alumni of the university, there have been four Nobel laureates. At present, there are 34,000 students studying at over 80 departments of 4 schools.
