201106-Tsinghua-Boeing Joint Research Center Inaugurated

The inauguration ceremony of Tsinghua - Boeing Joint Research Center was held in front of the Liu Qing Building on May 23rd. The Center was then officially opened. The Tsinghua - Boeing Joint Research Centre is committed to developing research collaboration in the fields of aircraft cabin environment, interior concept, advanced materials, and computer science for aviation.
 
Kang Kejun, Vice President of Tsinghua University, Academician Fan Weicheng, Director of the Institute of Public Safety of Tsinghua University, Matt Ganz, Vice President & General Manager of Boeing Research and Technology, and Marc Allen, President of Boeing China, together inaugurated the  research center.
 
 
Kang Kejun expressed his hope that the cooperation with Boeing would not only support the globalization strategy of Boeing, but also help improve the research capacity of Tsinghua University in the field of aerospace science and technology. “I am very confident that the cooperation between Boeing and Tsinghua will achieve great success,” he said.
Matt Ganz said, “We are looking forward to working with Tsinghua’s talented researchers and students to create value and benefit for the people of China and Boeing’s customers.”

Quite simply, it is one of the best academic institutions in the world. The chance now to jointly develop new applications for civil aviation with the university is outstanding. It speaks volumes about the progress and development of aerospace in China”, said Marc Allen, President of Boeing China.
A Tsinghua-Boeing Activity Day, with a series of academic lectures and a Boeing Scholarship Award Ceremony, was held in the Lecture Hall of the Department of Engineering Physics on the same day.
 
Al Bryant, Vice President and General Manager of Boeing Research & Technology-China, and Tang Chuanxiang, Head of the Department of Engineering Physics, and representatives from the Institute of Public Safety of Tsinghua University, participated in the ceremony and in the accompanying activities.
