On April 24th, Presidents and Vice Presidents from many of Tsinghua’s overseas strategic partners, including GM, Boeing, UTC, P&G, Intel, Cummins, IBM, Microsoft, BP, Siemens, Daimler, Veolia Environment, Toyota, MHI, Toshiba, Hitachi, Sony, Nissan, and SK, attended the Tsinghua Centenary Celebration Ceremony, which was held in the Great Hall of the People.
After the ceremony, Vice President of Tsinghua University Kang Kejun welcomed the distinguished guests from overseas strategic partner companies at the St Regis Hotel.
In his speech, Kang Kejun, on behalf of Tsinghua University, extended heartfelt thanks to the distinguished guests for coming from far away to witness the great moment of Tsinghua centenary celebration. Over the past 100 years, generations of Tsinghua’s faculty and alumni have made significant contributions to China’s development in wide-ranging and profound ways, such as the cultivation of talent, the creation of cutting-edge technology, and the provision of social services. Tsinghua has always stressed the importance of collaboration with industrial partners, and has maintained close partnerships with many leading international companies. The leading technology and international experience of these overseas partner companies have in turn contributed to research at Tsinghua and to talent cultivation. Kang Kejun extended his sincere gratitude for the continuous and generous support of Tsinghua’s overseas partner companies, and added that the centenary of Tsinghua marks an important milestone as well as a new starting point in Tsinghua’s development. He expressed the hope that Tsinghua and overseas partner companies could continue to enhance these partnerships and develop even further such win-win models of cooperation in the future.
The distinguished guests said that they were very impressed by the Tsinghua Centenary Celebration Ceremony held at the Great Hall of the People. After many years of cooperation with Tsinghua University, many remarkable achievements of collaborative research have been applied to industrial production, and have had great impact on both economic and social development. The guests said that in the future they would continue to promote their comprehensive cooperation with Tsinghua University in research, talent cultivation and information exchange.
In the afternoon of April 24, the distinguished guests also visited the Scientific Research and Development Achievements Exhibition, which was held in the West Stadium of Tsinghua University.
