201006-Tsinghua Visits General Motors in Shanghai

On May 26, Tsinghua University Vice President Kang Kejun, accompanied by Jiang Peixue, Executive Deputy Director of the Office of Scientific R & D, Ma Jun, Director of the Overseas R & D Management Office and Jiang Yongbin, Deputy Director of the Overseas R & D Management Office, visited General Motors (GM) in Shanghai and met with Mr. Kevin E. Wale, President of GM China, Dr. Alan Taub, Vice President of GM Global R & D, Dr. Chen Shi, Vice President of GM China, and Dr. Du Jiangling, Director of GM China Research Laboratory. They discussed issues related to solutions to urban traffic problems, and how to use the newly-established GM China Research Laboratory as a platform to expand bilateral cooperation.
 
After the meeting, Kang Kejun, invited as VIP, attended the “Sustainable Urban Mobility Forum”, which was the first forum of the GM World Expo 2010 Forum Series. Professor Elizabeth Deakin, Director of the Transportation Research Center of UC Berkeley, Mr. Feng Fei, Director of the Research Department of Industrial Economy, Development Research Center of State Council, Mr. John Miles, Arup’s Global Leader of Energy, Resources and Industry and Dr. Alan Taub all delivered wonderful speeches from different perspectives on how to guide society along the path toward sustainable mobility. At the forum, GM’s latest innovative model, the “En-V”, was also revealed.
