The year 2010 has brought many challenges and opportunities. The world economy is now gradually recovering from a global recession. However, sustainable development across the globe still faces serious crises due to ever increasing energy consumption and the continued deterioration of ecological systems. In this situation, how China, as one of the fastest growing economies of the world, plans to tackle these problems so as to achieve a harmonious development of the energy supply, the economy and the environment has become a major issue of concern.
As a response to the strategy of “Supported by Technological Innovation, Changing Economic Development Model and Adjusting industrial Structure”, as advocated by the national government, the Energy Economy and Environment Forum and 2010 UICC Annual Meeting will be held from October 15th -16th, 2010 . Leaders from government agencies, together with business elites from domestic large state-owned enterprises and overseas multinational corporations, as well as renowned scholars are invited to this meeting to share their views on energy strategy, economic restructuring, and environmental protection in China.
In the year 2011 Tsinghua University will celebrate its 100th anniversary. In the past one hundred years the progress of Tsinghua University has been closely linked with that of the country. Tsinghua is dedicated to the idea that scientific research should meet the strategic demands of the nation and is also committed to keep its research at the cutting edge of scientific developments across the world. As part of Tsinghua’s centenary celebrations, this special event celebrating university-industry cooperation at the university will serve as a platform to enhance collaboration and exchange between international and national enterprises with the ultimate aim of contributing to sustainable and healthy development within China.
