201006-Tsinghua Visits R&D Centers of Overseas Partner Enterprises in China

On May 25, Tsinghua University Vice President Kang Kejun, accompanied by Jiang Peixue, Executive Deputy Director of the Office of Scientific R & D, Ma Jun, Director of the Overseas R&D Management Office and Jiang Yongbin, Deputy Director of the Overseas R & D Management Office, visited Dow Chemical Shanghai R & D Center. They were welcomed by Mr. Peter Sykes, CEO of Dow Chemical Greater China District, and by Ms. Huang Hua, Director of R&D, Asia Pacific.
In the meeting, Kang Kejun congratulated Dow Chemical on its rapid development and great achievements in China. He also proposed that both parties should seize the opportunity to expand and enhance cooperation. Mr. Sykes agreed and expressed his hope that more Tsinghua University graduates will learn about the company’s culture and choose to join Dow Chemical, which is the second largest chemical company in the world. In 2009, the sales of Dow Chemical reached US$ 45 billion. At present the Shanghai R&D Center has more than 1800 employees.
 

On May 25, the Tsinghua delegation led by Kang Kejun also visited Dell’s China Design Center. They exchanged views with Mr. Greg Germain, Managing Director of China Design Center and Mr. Peter Marrs, Director of Government Education and Public Affairs, Asia-Pacific. Both parties reached consensus on issues such as potential cooperative opportunities and cooperation models. After the meeting, the staff of China Design Center showcased the new series of Dell products and introduced the latest technology and development trends in their R&D activities to the Tsinghua delegation.
