The joint research institute model is for the company which hopes to establish a long-term and strategic partnership with Tsinghua University. The joint research institute is characterized by a high efficiency of research work, stable research funds input and long-term cooperation. To establish a joint research institute, the majority of researchers and some existing equipments are provided by Tsinghua, while the research funds, new equipments and a few of researchers are provided by the company.

 

The joint management committee, consisted of the leader from Tsinghua and the company, is responsible for the distribution of the research funds, the selection of the research projects and the planning of the arrangement of the projects. There are two catergories of the joint research institutes:

• •  Three-year department-level joint research center
